It doesn’t really seem like it should be Friday again, but I checked my calendar, and it is. My warped perception of time probably has something to do with the fact that we have had 2 snow days every week for the past 3 weeks. But good news! This weekend’s forecast is promising even more wicked winter weather. My entire perception of the word “blizzard” has totally changed. Now, if the snowfall isn’t forecasted to be over a foot, I’m not impressed.
Whatever. No idea what’s going on. It’s kind of like we are living in the movie “Frozen,” but with less music and more shoveling. Last I heard, this is the 9th snowiest winter in Boston’s history, and Boston has been around for quite a while. With another 10-18” projected for Saturday and Sunday, and my weather app with “3 snowflakes” for Wednesday, I give up. I surrender. This is life now. We adjust, and we sharpen our shovels for 6 more months of winter.
In light of Valentine’s day tomorrow, and because he’s been so awesome and unstoppable in getting everything taken care of in the purchase of our new home, I’m just so thankful to call this guy my husband. This week, he took care of all of the house buying stuff that would stress me out…and in turn, would stress belly baby out. We are such lucky ladies to have him.
This week, I have needed a daily dose of avocado. I’ve always liked my guac, but as of this week, I think that I physically need avocado.
I add half a ‘cado to my morning smoothies, add another half to my sandwich at lunch, and I also add it to dinner whenever I can. The good fats seem to be doing the trick for my growing belly.
I have heard of women craving chalk and dirt, and so I feel like I’ve been lucky in this department.
I love these ruffle-bum diaper covers that I got from Leo and Lilly through Jane.com. They were such a great deal, I had to get 4 colors! It would have been silly not to stock up. My plan for this spring/summer is a onsies and a diaper cover for most days. I thought these would make for some cute, comfy outfits that can get nice and mess and it won’t matter.
I can’t wait to see our little girl in these!
Snow Day Granola
As we prepare to move, I find myself opening our cupboards and rediscovering baking supplies that had, until now, been invisible to my naked eye. I don’t want to move it all, I don’t want to throw it out, and I also don’t want to eat 25 batches of cookies. Rock, meet hard place.
To make our home smell nice and yummy during our last snow day, I prepared a huge batch of Cinnamon Coconut granola from a recipe that I posted it a while back; you can find it here.
Seeing as how it’s already gone, we have lots more oatmeal, and lots more snow coming, I foresee myself making more before the weekend is over.
Overall, it was a good week. Nothing too remarkable, but simple and cozy. Normal, real-life happy.
