New to link-ups, this is very first official crack at Five on Friday. My sister-in-law, Lisa, told me about linking-up when we were visiting Arizona…specifically about Five on Friday. It sounded fun and I wanted to give it a try. So, here it goes! These are 5 things the I am loving for this past week.
The Welcome-Home from Our Kitty
After being gone for 10 days of holiday travel (to be documented soon), our kitty has become a bigger baby than normal. Normally Lady is affectionate (aside from not allowing us to hold her), but now that we’ve returned…she has been like a little shadow. Every time I turn around, there she is. She whines at every closed door, snoozes on our unpacked suitcases, and sleeps in bed with us at night.
I also caught her this week staring curiously at my pregnant stomach. She looked at my face, at my belly, and back at my face…like she knew something was different. Too funny! It’s been so nice to get such a welcome home.
Cute compression socks
I have always been a fan of my compression sleeves, and I have a pair of hospital compression socks, but I’ve never had a nice pair of cute, tall compression socks. I got a pair for Christmas and I loved them so much, I immediately bought a second pair! I wore them for our holiday airport travel, on some hikes, and around the house. I feel so sad when they are dirty. After a long day, I love to cozy up and treat my pregnant feet. The socks I have are “Sockwell” and I love the designs they make. They pass for dress socks, you could easily wear them to work and no one would know.
No matter if you are a runner or not, definitely treat yourself to a pair of cute compression socks!
Greek Yogurt Dip
When I first found out I was pregnant and the nausea was setting in, this dip was literally the only way I could eat veggies. It is the simplest thing to make! The nausea has since passed, but it is still my favorite snack. The protein from the Greek yogurt is AMAZING for my pregnant body, it helps me get in multiple servings of veggies, it keeps me from unhealthy snacking, and the dip itself is low in calories.
- ½ cup low-fat, plain greek yogurt
- 1 packet Hidden Valley ranch mix
- Mix the packet into the yogurt and enjoy with your favorite fresh veggies!
Sometimes I will add a few extra spices, or mix in some low-fat sour cream. Make it in a big batch…you will eat it up quickly!
I love, love, love this site for inexpensive finds from online shops of all sizes. This site offers “boutique deals daily” in limited qualities from a variety of websites. Everything is purchased safely through Jane.com from a unique boutique, and if you love the product, you can easily frequent the individual shop on your own.
I love to use this site find for new baby girl gear! I have already ordered some adorable baby moccasins, a braided leather pacifier clip, and some artwork for baby’s room. Definitely check this site out and sign up for the daily emails. It’s worth checking every day!
Hot lemon water
When I come home from the gym around 7am, I am normally FREEZING cold! I try not to immediately chug coffee because I am trying to limit my caffeine, and I find hot lemon water to be a refreshing way to start a winter day! One slice of lemon in a mug of hot water, jazzed up with cinnamon or ginger, and I’m good to go. Try it! This graphic shows all the benefits.
So, that’s it! Five things that, in my humble opinion, are very good from this week. Have a beautiful weekend!
